Touring Texas in the 2017 Toyota Avalon Touring

Reflecting over the last year I was amazed at how far we've come & how much we've traveled. I wanted to make it a family resolution this year to spend our money on experiences rather than material things. We rang in the new year with a road trip down the Texas Coast & border in the 2017 Toyota Avalon Touring.

When Jeff told me which one car Toyota was sending us I was a little worried, would a car be enough space for us to travel in? Especially since we were bringing along my Grandma! When I first saw it in our driveway I was so in love with the cobalt blue color, and once we were inside it genuinely surprised me with how much space it had. Our main problem with some cars is that we can't fit Camila's car seat rear facing while the drivers side seat is further back when Jeff is driving, but in this car we definitely did.

We started our trip with a trek from Houston to San Antonio with Jeff's parents so I could show them around Downtown. After a long day of visiting the Alamo, Historic Market Square & La Villita we stayed at my Grandma's house and rested up for a morning trip to San Benito.

Along the way we decided to stop in Corpus Christi, something I hadn't done since I was a little girl, to visit the Selena Memorial and stretch our legs. New Years was spent at my God Mother's family's ranch popping fire works & eating Pozole!

On January 1st we traveled further down to South Padre Island to the Schilitterbahn Beach Resort, where we let go of all the stress of the last year and decided we needed more relaxation & family time in the coming year. With the temperature in the 70's an amazing indoor water park what more could we have asked for? It's been about a week since we got back and I haven't been able to get back into a working groove. Is there such a thing as being too relaxed?

What are some resolutions you've set for your family?
