The Easiest Arroz Con Leche (Rice Pudding) Recipe Ever

This post is sponsored by ALDI, however, all opinions expressed below are 100% my own true opinions.

Arroz con leche, or Rice with Milk is one of my holiday favorites. I have found memories with my great grandma who would make the chocolate version of this recipe and my grandma liked to make the strawberry version. I remember my grandma waking up earlier than everyone else to put the rice to boil, but since I enjoy my sleep and don’t think I’ve reached abuelita status I make it in the rice cooker! To all the traditionalists out there I’m sorry, but this is a modern spin on an old classic. My favorite thing to do these days is find new ways to make old recipes modern and easy to replicate in my everyday life!

Ingredients (All of the following ingredients can be found at your local ALDI)

3 Cups of Specially Selected White Basmati Rice
6 Cups of Water
2 cans of Baker’s Corner Evaporated Milk
1 can of Condensed Milk
1 Cup of Happy Farms Whole Milk
4 Cinnamon Sticks
½ Cup of Baker’s Corner Sugar

  1. Fill the rice cooker with 6 cups of water
  2. Add 3 Cups of Basmati rice
  3. Add 1 can of Condensed milk, 2 cans of Evaporated, and 1 cup of Whole milk to the rice cooker and stir
  4. Add ½ cup of sugar & 4 cinnamon sticks and stir
  5. Close the rice cooker lid & set to cook
  6. Wait for the warm light to come back on
  7. Serve & enjoy

Optional steps:
Add a stick of cinnamon to each cup/bowl to stir, or add a sprinkle of ground cinnamon to taste!

Arroz con leche is known to some people as rice pudding, or Rice with milk translated literally, and originated in Spain which then made its way to South America during the age of exploration! Fun fact, my great grandpa’s family is from Spain and settled in Mexico which is where my fair skin comes from! This dish can be served hot or cold but I prefer it hot during the colder seasons because it hits the spot and makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. With a nice warm blanket and a fire it’s an easy way to please a crowd that’s sure to be at your house during the holiday season. This can even be a good dessert with fresh fruits or a chocolate drizzle to take to anyone’s holiday party!

I love that I can find all of these ingredients conveniently at my local ALDI. This makes for an easy and festive way to please the whole family. ALDI has tons of items that fit perfectly in my pantry at low prices that really can’t be beat anywhere else. With tons of other new stores opening soon in Houston and Dallas there is definitely going to be one near you!
